Oh The Places You’ll Go!
Today is your day Your mountain is waiting So get on your way!
Go forth, seek wisdom, friendship & adventure! We don’t know about you but we are both 50 something. All that matters is that we are WELL – we can walk – ride bicycles – climb hills and swim. We thrive on exploration of the past present and future, through Architecture, Culture, Art, Food and Wine, with family & friends – old and new! We stop to smell the roses and we move on to the next destination and breathtaking point of view.
But not all of us….. Some of us are stuck in the waiting place…..
The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting…………………
Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.
Rob and I already have friends who either didn’t make it to 50 or are sick or disabled. Your life is all the time you have, and unfortunately tomorrow is never a guarantee! Society teaches us many things that are simple untruths. These things that we believe without question stop us from traveling… and leave us there in the waiting place…
Here are our favorite 3 Simple Untruths – dispelled.
Untruth #1 – Education is SO important that one must never miss a day of school!
Truth #1 – National Geographic sells a book called 100 Places that can change your child’s LIFE. By Keith Bellows who believes “The Passport is the new diploma” If you can’t afford travel in Summer – take them out of school and go at an affordable time of year!
Untruth #2 – International Travel is Dangerous and Risky!
Truth #2 – The problem is that only tragedy and despair is reported in the world news – so it makes us BELIEVE that anywhere but the United States is unsafe. The truth is that people just like you and me live in “the Places you will Go” in peace, most days, just like we do. Want to check out what’s REALLY going on in a destination – look for a live broadcast on Periscope by someone just like you or me! Because Seeing is Believing!
Untruth #3 – International Travel is too expensive!
Truth #3 – Rob and I have been all over the world. We spend between $75 and $200 per day per person. A regular vacation is a high priority for us. We make it important. You can too! Just pretend it’s a new car or TV…. and you will find the money for it, because the experience is worth so much more than the money ever will be… Oh the places you’ll go.
Waiting???
No! That’s not for you!
