To Travel like an Architect you have to have a plan – blueprint your vacation. After you book, you can do it yourself or get help from a travel professional. There are different ways to go about it, depending on your learning style and preference. Here are some of the ways we do research about destinations for ourselves and our travel clients.
Visual – if you are like me you can do this. Using Google’s browser, Chrome – Google the name of the city and country that you plan to visit. First, click on the “Images” tab. You will be bombarded with photos of places in the city. Click on anything that appeals to you then go to the website that posted it for more info about what and where it is. Next, click on the “Maps” tab. Activate the “Earth View” in the lower left, then zoom in to your heart’s content using the zoom tools in the lower right. Look for amazing formations of roads and terrain. There you will find the unique things that each city has to offer. Click to the “Street View” to feel like you’re already there.
Auditory – learners can listen to videos and presentations. Our websites book-a-cruise.info and BellesTravel.com are great resources for destination info, as well as YouTube or Vimeo. For example, visit YouTube.com, in the search bar type the name of any city and country in the world followed by “tourism.” I tried “Athens Greece Tourism” where I readily found many videos to watch. We are always looking for architecture, and are headed there in September. Check out this video tinyurl.com/BellesPARTHENON.
Reading – for people who prefer to read the UNESCO (stands for: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage – is the keeper of “The List” of the most amazing places on our planet. Find the interactive world map at their website easily by typing tinyurl.com/BellesUNESCO into your favorite browser.
Tip: Make a 3×5 card for each destination you are planning. List the things you want to see there. Bring it with on your trip and you can show it to any taxi driver regardless of their language to convey to them where to take you.
As always give us a call if you need architectural advice to Blueprint Your Vacation.
